There are two parts to this week's assignment:
1. Find and subscribe to a podcast. share which podcast you chose and why you chose it.
My choice was a natural, a podcast about starting a podcast: The Podcasters' Studio's Podcasting 101 How to Start a Podcast.
2. Create your own podcast or online audio recording... (then) make a new page on the website and embed your podcast on that page.
Hi, my name is Thor Kolner and welcome to my podcast.

This program is for owners and senior managers of construction companies.
Your company, like all others, is built on the ongoing pursuit to recruit and then retain the best team possible.

Steve Jobs said: "Some people can do one thing magnificently, like Michelangelo, and others make things like semiconductors or build 747 airplanes -- that type of work requires legions of people. In order to do things well, that can't be done by one person, you must find extraordinary people."
In his book “Good to Great”, noted business guru Jim Collins agreed saying "Great vision without great people is irrelevant."
So how can your construction company recruit and retain the best?
Let’s take a lesson from manufacturing.
Jack Welch, former C.E.O. of General Electric observed "If you pick the right people and give them the opportunity to spread their wings and put compensation as a carrier behind it, you almost don't have to manage them."

Finally, as Sir Richard Branson tweeted back in 2014, “Train people well enough so they can leave, treat them well enough so they don’t want to.”

In short, recruiting and retaining talent is a continuing effort not a quick and easy solution. After identifying the best talent available, leaders are responsible for keeping this vital company resource through ongoing education and opportunity.
